Welcome to the 2023 Premiers' Reading Challenge.
Years 7, 8 and 9 at CGSC all participate in the Premiers' Reading Challenge and you can come and see us in the library if you need any help with the Challenge. Outlined in this libguide are all the PRC details along with some how to instructions and helpful hints.
Most of the books you read should be from the Challenge book lists. The rest can be any book you choose. You can read books on the book list for your year level or a level above and they'll count towards your total.
Number of Books needed to complete the Challenge:
Year 7 The Giver by Lois Lowry
Year 8 When Michael met Mina by Randa Abdel-Fattah and A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare
Year 9 The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Don't forget:
All the books you have already read this year can be added to your Premiers' Reading Challenge!
Did you do any holiday reading? Add those books too!
To locate a challenge book while browsing the CGSC library, check for the below PRC spine labels.
You can also search on the PRC website to find out if the book you are reading is listed as a Challenge book or a Choice book.
Choice books are all the other books that you read during the PRC. These can be any titles that you read that aren't listed on the Challenge book list.
To complete the PRC you can add 5 Choice books to your total. Of course you may read as many Choice books as you like, they will all be counted, as long as you read at least 10 Challenge books as well!
